A bad habit, or maybe not.

I must confess that I really loath small toys, things that get under my sofa, under chairs and in corners.  You know, those little toys or pieces of toys that end up in a pile of dirt after you have swept.  The little pieces that you then have to sift out of the dirt and dust bunnies after you have swept them up.  I hate those little toys and pieces, things like this:

So the second part of that confession is that often times I will throw those little toys or pieces in the garbage when the kids aren’t looking.  Now, I do not throw out any toys or pieces that belong to a bigger toy that the kids like to play with or anything that is an accessory to a toy that the kids like to play with.  Basically if I think that I am going to encounter an enraged child should they not be able to find a crucial piece or toy I will not throw it out.

My other reason for loathing small toys and pieces is that I really hate stepping on them,  I hate feeling like I need to wear protective footwear in my own home.  One time a while ago I stepped on a Hot Wheels motorcycle of Ewan’s and the dang thing actually broke the skin and got stuck in my foot.  It was really painful and I was really pissed off, needless to say we don’t have that toy anymore.

Confession #2-

The other day I heard Ewan in his room moaning so I went in to ask what was wrong.  He told me he had stepped on one of his army guys, and that it had hurt his foot.  I had to leave the room because I was starting to laugh, I know it sounds wrong to laugh at your child when they are in pain, and I do feel a little bad about it.  But I also felt a little glad that I am not the only one that feels the pain of stepping on the kids toys. I did compose myself pretty quickly and go in to comfort him, just so you know.

Those army men really hurt when you step on them, if you haven experienced it and you have a young boy you probably will at some point.

No small toys or pieces were thrown away in the making of this post!
